I’ve landed on believing two things:

1) The talk about wanting a scheme change was in fact real all along.

2) Using the scheme change as the rationale for losing our entire defensive line and hardly replacing any of them is likely BS. That couldn’t have been part of the plan and is a real, and likely unfixable, problem. We just didn’t allocate enough money towards that group and didn’t have the funds left to retain them once their prices went up unexpectedly.
