So the US might like to just flip the person at the top and hope they sign a few deals with us, while Israel just wants to destroy the state.

I don’t think the Israelis care. They might actually prefer a failed state to any other option. Certainly would prefer that to a stable democracy, I think. They are already a fortress state on a war footing with their neighbors, who don’t care in the slightest about humanitarian catastrophes. Or what they’re tying to do in Venezuela.
