Random weirdness in energy: Takers are being paid to burn Permian gas right now
we're getting negative pricing in Texas because the drillers don't know what to do with all the gas that comes up with the oil. Previous Message we're selling a bunch of our oil to foreign countries (esp. Europe) that can't get theirs from the persian gulf. our supplies are lower than they were in 2022 and we have fewer refineries. and our rig count is down (so much for "drill, baby drill"). and we're getting into summer demand season (which may be tamped more than normal due to the prices). if things opened 100% tomorrow (it won't), it's still 4-6 months at best to unwind it all- then you have the problem of all the destroyed infrastructure in the persian gulf. it's fucked for a while. in the short term, i think we've got another dollar at least to go in the next 6-8 weeks.
