Signed a couple guys I wanted the Hawks to go after, but the dollars/years they signed them for are pretty wild. And then took on Darnell Nurse’s entire contract. I also think the Blackhawks need a year of showing real tangible growth before any good players are going to be eager to sign here. Lot of pressure on young guys to step up this season, can’t have another year at the bottom of the standings at this point.  Previous Message
As expected, the Bowen Byram contract is a nasty one. $12.5M per year which, for now, makes him the highest defenseman in the entire NHL.
Positive is it’s only 6 years, I was worried it would be an 8 year deal that could become a real albatross.
Feels like this guy will likely be what determines Kyle Davidson’s future as a GM.
