Probably should have done this a year ago when Kelce wasn't clearly on the decline and Taylor was at her peak. Good for them, I guess, for perhaps waiting to see if marriage was right but them doing Madison Square Garden on July 3rd implies otherwise.
Not sure people are in the mood for a spectacle right now given the bad vibes around the 250th getting taken over and the president trashing the country for his ego. There's a degree of hubris to think they wouldn't get a similar reaction. I dunno if it's the heat, cost, or overall apathy but I've heard amateur fireworks once so far around me this week where most years it is every night leading up to the 4th. I don't think it's a stretch to compare that to shrugging off a big celebrity thing that might've hit different other years. Don't wanna see a extravagant display when everything is so damn expensive.
World Cup coverage (memes, viral moments, etc.) suggest folks want underdogs and authenticity right now, not celebrity adulation. Then of course you have the once in four years global games themselves featuring close matches at the exact same time as the ceremony and reception with penalty shootouts in one and then Messi and the defending champs being pushed into extra time by a tiny island nation.
They're not even the biggest thing these last few weeks at the venue with the Knicks having just won a title.
NFL fans largely won't care and I have to think many Swifties are under the impression that no one is good enough for their Taylor.
If that's the time and place they genuinely wanted then okay but they were greatly mistaken if they wanted it to be the event of the summer.
