CFB is a little different from Madden or EAFC, in that the main draw of the game is the single-player mode. There is an Ultimate Team mode in CFB, but it's not nearly as popular as the ones in Madden or EAFC.
Apparently EA decided to try to recoup some of that lost extra revenue in CFB by adding microtransactions to single player. It's possible that they'll decide that doing the same in Madden and EAFC isn't worth the backlash, but I would be surprised if they showed that level of restraint.
