Cabrera was so uniquely awful that I’m not even sure what you do with him.
I guess you probably just go in with the assumption that you can only count him to be a #4 or #5 starter and plan accordingly around that. But that was so incredibly bad from him this year where it makes you wonder if he might be permanently broken by whatever adjustments they tried to have him make this year. I also figured they’d end up in a spot where they’d bring back one of Gausman or Holmes on a short team year deal but I don’t know about that anymore. Not a getting single or meaningful AB from Holmes or Taylor when giving up Jefferson Rojas sure didn’t work out. I’d gladly bring Peterson back if the price is reasonable though.  Previous Message
The pitching was just devastated.
They were far and away the best position player group in baseball even if you took PCA away but they were one of the worst pitching staffs in baseball.
One of the worst pitching staffs to ever make the postseason. I’ve never seen such a disparity.
And the only “starters”they have under control for next year are Cabrera, Brown, and Assad.
Not counting Steele and Horton.
They need to bring back a couple outfielders and then figure out how to get a legitimate pitching staff.
