On 529 day any accountants, financial planners, or experienced parents to answer a 529 plan question

...
1) Can 529 funds be withdrawn as a qualified expense for students living at home? (529 funds can be withdrawn for housing expenses. A quick Google search seems to indicate the answer is Yes?)
2) How to determine the allowable amounts?
3) Has anyone done this?
Don't know the answer to the threshold question but if allowed you'd presumably need to work out
a market rental rate in your area for the portion of the house lil' effin' lives in and uses.
I'm interested in this question too because I've thought about buying a place for mini to live in (with roommates) if he gets a Zell/Hope scholarship.
