Recs needed: we have to go to Sturgis Kentucky for a funeral. We would like to drive

Most of the way on Friday night, as the service is Saturday morning and it's almost a 6 hour drive.

We could stay in Effingham (meet me at the gas station), but that leaves 2 hours to still drive in the morning.

Is there somewhere south if there to get a hotel that is decent and safe?

Then Rt 13 over the Shawneetown Bridge. You take a right at a gas station about 2 miles into KY called Smokin Joes (I think it is KY 109). Goes straight to Sturgis. Been that way dozens of times, maybe an hour to Sturgis from Marion.
