First impressions - MarioKart World is STUNNING

And, while it's not a whole different game, they amped up the difficulty level. I did one Grand Prix at 50ccs (in old versions I would be DOMINATING) - got first, but it was close sometimes

It's almost startling how realistic a cartoon can be

I kind of want to but it dawned on me that I’d probably end up paying $500+ to just play MarioKart

And I’ve still got the dusty old N64 sitting around anyway, just don’t have a TV that is compatible since the upscaling to a modern TV makes everything kind of blurry.

Breath of the Wild is pretty great. My kids have all played it through multiple times...

Yeah, mini plays it and the more recent one a lot. He also has a couple of other games he likes.

and it works out great for when he has friends over (and when our friends with younger kids come over) because you have four controllers and a variety of game genres.

The fact that it was 9:01 PDT was a nice perk of being on the left coast.

He had some issues getting his account synced because he didn’t have his old switch with him (left it with his college roommate for the summer) and that was apparently preventing him from playing at least some games last night.

but we've used it a lot. My kids haven't been so intensely into sports games that we need another console YET, and the ability to port it with you or plug it in to the TV is pretty cool.

Oldest mostly uses it for The Show, younger for Minecraft.

We'll wire up the switch to one of the two HDMI ports and both can see it on their screen. It's glorious. We have a 20+ hour road trip this summer and it's gonna get a workout.

The kids have an OG Switch, and they're still enamored with it. I'm sure one of their friends will get a Switch 2, and they'll come home begging for it. I'm fine adding some tension and anticipation. Both boys birthdays are early in the year, so there really isn't a good gift-time right now.

I bought my Switch about 3 weeks before the pandemic to take with me on the road.
