But then I take my trusty Oxycodone, and I feel more like this...

So, I'm back in the office today because I can't stand sitting around (last chance before the gross stuff)...

So... going all the way back to my original injury, I had a big ol' piece of my lateral femoral condyle missing... see 3D scan (upper left hand corner)...

Here's a "before" xray comparing my 2 knees... any guesses which one is which?...

OK, on to the fun... here's what my knee looked like when first opened...

Here's the placeholder for the new total knee...

Here's the final before being sewn back up...

Here's all of the pieces of bone that were cut out of my knee joint... enjoy dinner!

Finally, here's the new scar I will have after my dressing got taken off...

I highly recommend looking at these again just before your next meal. Happy 4th!!!!!!!

Please note, if you don't like gross stuff, do not scroll down. I have given you fair warning with some humorous Simpsons pics in the interim...

Ho boy... it's different than any of the other knee surgeries I've had... started PT yesterday, and let me tell you... THEY DO NOT FUCK AROUND.

Since they're not worried about live tissue healing, but rather, flexion, extension, and firing the thigh muscles, you feel like this...

But then I take my trusty Oxycodone, and I feel more like this...

Been awhile, but I used to watch and photograph quite a few total knee and a few total hip procedures my boss performed. As a observer in the OR, the first one was an experience. Be glad you were knocked out for it all.

Good luck with your rehab. Hopefully you'll be feeling much better soon. From the looks of that x-ray and first surgery pic you should feel much better after all the tissues heal up.

Looks like a Mako as the fixtures say Stryker and the arrays say Mako.
The Mako robot is for precision cutting of the tibia and femur for improved alignment of the implants for better outcomes. The surgeon still places the implants.

The advances we’ve made with total joints over the last decade have been exponential. Not that long ago you would have been looking at two or three days in the hospital and another few weeks of home care. Now it’s an outpatient procedure and most are starting PT at an external clinic within a few days. Outcomes are consistently through the roof.

I’m sure you will rock the rehab but let me know if you have any questions along the way.

My one pro tip (just the tip) is that getting full 0 degrees flat straightening is every bit as important if not more so than the flexion.

...and I'm already hard at work on it. Extension is the key... flexion can always be pushed over time, but extension is important to catch early.

My surgeon says the new plastics are lab tested to last at least 30 years, but they say 10-15 because there's literally nobody that has them long enough to know for sure.
