1) Bill gets in the way of a camera or binoculars.
2) Windy outdoors and I don't want it to blow off.
3) Driving / riding in an open air vehicle / boat and I don't want it to blow off. (Though I usually just take a hat completely off.)

Unless I'm only driving around 30mph or so. But anything faster than 40mph will almost certainly cause my hat to go flying off my head.

As far as just a fashion statement is concerned, I go back and forth on this. I think it can make middle aged men look abnormally young wearing it backwards. But all the sudden lately, I've begun to like wearing my hats backwards at times. Mostly just around the yard or at the gym or something.

But around town shopping? No I think it looks a bit silly. I'm about to turn 50 and my cool look has long passed me by.

But to each his own.
