The battery powered mower auto shuts off if I release the handle. Risk is fairly minimal when pushing from behind on fairly flat surfaces.

Disclaimer: When I commute to the office, my combined walk to and from mass transit is nearly a mile, and I'm sure I'd be more comfortable in Sketchers or some New Balance walking shoes than the shoes I wear, but I never will because I value the appearance of the shoes I'm wearing too highly.

I'm sure there are others that think that's a stupid decision based on their priorities, and they're not totally incorrect.

1) Wearing Skechers basically sends a message to the world that you're no longer trying. They are the sweatpants of shoes.
