Looks like I'll have some time on the way back home from mammoth caves. I'll have kid with me but seems like most tours allow children

Old Forrester. They have a cooperage on site too where you can flame a barrel if you want.*

If you want any of my trip reports, shoot me an email. I have been several times.

Bardstown is where it’s at. Lots of places to visit.

Maker’s (Loretta) is my favorite with Buffalo Trace (Frankfort) a close second. Also, Wild Turkey has an amazing view over looking the river. The trip from Buffalo Trace to Woodford to Wild Turkey on the back roads is awesome.

I didn't do a distillery tour in the city but Willet's upstairs tasting room is really great.*

I would recommend the slugger museum. It's pretty interesting and you can be in and out in an hour

Agreed with VIV and tv on Makers. Make sure you book ahead of time though as they can sell out*

Angels Envy is right there. I also didn't realize Whiskey Thief had a tour right there as well

I've been to the one near Lexington and it was a lot of fun. Much more casual and non-corporate. I'd probably try that unless i wanted a tour that was very educational on the whole process of how whiskey is made.

maker's mark has really pretty grounds and you can wax your own bottle, which is fun.

we didn't do a tour there, just walked around the grounds and did the bottle dipping.

i thought the tour at bardstown bourbon was great if you want to see a massive scale of things. our guide was also really helpful and knowledgeable. and they run tours enough that you can actually get in pretty much whenever.

Agreed with Makers as well... felt more kid friendly.

Last time my wife did Bourbon Chase, Makers was undergoing a massive renovation, but I assume that's done.
