Cam Smith was drafted as a 3B and was exclusively playing that for the Cubs, the Astros moved him to the OF because they had a roster hole there but he never even played that position in college.

So when Cam Smith looked like he was going to win ROY and Matt Shaw was back in the minors, there was definitely a lot of talk about it. Ultimately Cam Smith vs. Kyle Tucker is what ultimately matters in evaluating the trade, but it looked worse when it seemed like we traded the wrong 3B too.

Craig said after the first game that they were gonna sit him for a few days

it's probably both physical and mental. In addition to the hand I think he hurt his knee worse than he acknowledged when he fouled a ball off it. those two injuries probably affected his swing and his bat speed. The continued struggles then got into his head

they should have put him on the 10 day IL 3-4 weeks ago
