I don’t remember the exact figure they quoted me, but it was over $600.

This is for a regular like 36” or something window, not huge or fancy, not remote control or anything.

Not horrible considering we're going to hang one, give two to grandparents and stick the rest on a shelf next to the envelopes of pics from when the kids were in 2nd grade. (They're now in grad school and a Junior in HS.)

We just use my action shots for magnets and framed pics

Tell me again what equipment you use (and if you don't mind DM ballpark idea of the cost?)

It's really time for me to spend some money and upgrade. Got back from Colorado a few weeks ago and while the iPhone 15 pro isn't bad for fall landscapes, I wish I had a DSLR setup with a big telephoto (or at least a teleconverter) for elk in the rut and pikas on the tundra. Let alone wolves and bears for a next Yellowstone trip (hopefully next fall).

My old Sony A100 with 70-200mm lens from my old Minolta film camera doesn't cut it.

i think the cheapest package offered, which is what we get, was around $35

so we're in it for around $140-$150 each year. we put one up in our home and then give one our parents.

spring pictures, too? gtfo with that nonsense.

I was an early adopter of Blue Nile, and I agree, if I was in the market right now, I'd likely go lab grown as well.

2) These lab diamonds nowadays seem comically large and downright boastful compared to the good old blood diamonds we gave 25+ years ago.

Edit: Have seen the lab grown rocks being worn by my sister-in-law, niece, and their friends who have been engaged and/or married in the past couple of years.

It's been 20 years since I bought an engagement ring

It was just top of mind for me when the subject of things that cost an absurd amount and have societal pressure associated with them.

I think the market share for lab grown vs. mined is pretty much 50/50 right now.

I know it's blasphemous to criticize anything about Travis and Taylor, but that's one of the most tacky and gaudy engagement rings I have ever seen.
