Teams with a good QB and receivers have been able to move that ball and score against our below average defense. Wisconsin has neither. Their defense may be OK but Luke and the OLine should be able to score enough to pull away easily. We will see.

That call, the INT where you can clearly see that the grounded aided control, the "hold" on Valentine on Luke's TD run.

I mentioned it below, but the white hat threw that flag on Valentine as Luke crossed the goal line. Almost like he wanted to see the result of the play to decide if he was gonna call it or not.

The 24/7 pod referred to it as a phantom call. They generally play it very "journalistic"

It goes back to the phrase “complete the process of the catch” and how that’s defined/officiated. If a WR is going to the ground as he’s making a catch he needs to maintain control throughout in order for the catch to be completed. However if he “completes” it first then is taken to the ground and then loses it it’ll either be down or a fumble.

In this case the ref decided (incorrectly) that he started to be taken to the ground before completing the catch and that he lost control of it during that process

IU thing last year got hopes high for our football situation this year. Hell, I was sitting at a UK football game earlier this year and a guy originally from Illinois was making a bet with his seat mate that Illinois would make the playoff. The buzz was there, right or wrong. I’ll include myself in believing that we had a playoff chance as well. Once we lost to Washington, it seemed kind of pointless. I’m still watching, but I can understand the students not wanting to invest due to expectations as well as:

2) Everything that 98 said below about Rome not being built in a day.

AND

3) Football folks, shield your eyes: we have a long time nationally relevant basketball team that has started well. People are excited about that, have limited sports bandwidth (NFL is in full swing now too), and have moved on from this year’s football squad.

The whole game was not a great experience, and most of it is because the TV dollar is killing the energy and flow of attending in person. I'll keep doing it, because when it's good it's great. But the tone was set early... 2nd or 3rd play of the game, a Maryland player goes down... 3 minute commercial break. Another player is slow to get up, 3 minute commercial break. And the whole 4th quarter was just a quagmire of commercial breaks. Locks waives the white flag, punts... commercial break, with the 2 minute commercial break coming up.

I had an 8 and 9 year old with me, and we made it to the 2 minute timeout, so we could get into a decent spot in the NE Tower to see the team as they came out. But I was willing the kids to the 77 yard dash, and then to the "you might get a high five from Luke" to get them to stay through the game.

Was fortunate enough to bring my boys back last season for the Kansas game, and had a similar experience. The program has a bunch of players who really get it... you don't hear about a bunch of problems with these guys... they treat the fans and supporters well.
