The first Women's Pro Baseball League draft just finished up

120 players drafted for 60 spots. About 1/3 of the players international (Japan, Canada, Australia, and elsewhere).

3 players I have coached were drafted, 1 in the first round and 2 in the final (6th) round. Very proud of them. My daughter was unable to attend the tryouts due to school and work commitments but is hoping they will have some free agent tryouts.

Great for all of them...I hope it succeeds.

Gotta admit this is the first I've heard of this.

Right now all league owned, so I'm not sure who controlled the strings for teams drafting*

How many teams will there be?
How many players on each team? 25?

If there are more than 2 teams, wouldn't there be more than 60 positions?

4 teams, 15 player rosters so 60 total

Draft list included 150 players or so, 120 were drafted yesterday so each team has 30 to work with to start.

I'm surprised the roster size is that small, I was expecting 18-20

Okay, again, I’m the one who has to ask. So, really the roster is only 22, right?

because 3-4 will be on the IR depending on … you know … the time of month?

No, not 22, only 15. That just doesn't make sense to me, but probably done for financial reasons*

Haters be darned, its pretty cool to see.

The can't, won't, and shouldn't compete on an overall professional basis with men, but its pretty special to see talented, passionate women have the opportunity to compete on a professional level playing a sport they love and have worked hard at.
