I just binged the first 5 and I’m hooked.

I did not expect to have philosophical questions raised in my head.

I did think eps 3 and 4 dragged a bit. Haven't watched ep 6 yet.

And I think you need to have something to make The Us more monstrous, because through 5 eps, they are the sympathetic ones.

Since they're all "We don't kill nuthin'!" would it have to be people that died naturally or in the accidents caused in the Joining?

I think that’s why they were so diligent about retrieving the bodies in the second episode.

I definitely think she found bodies and her gasp implied the eating them conclusion IMO.

To your point about the philosophical questions, it’s definitely interesting to consider if she’s right or wrong and who is she to decide for everyone else? And if she reverses it, how many people will wish she hadn’t?

It’s agency vs harmony. A perfect world with no crime and no suffering vs the free will to destroy that. A bit Matrixy in that regard.

And I think the “if you saw someone drowning, would you throw them a life preserver” is the core thesis of The Us (not Reggie The Us). They viewed humans as a species destroying itself and are intervening.

Yes to all that. I also like the contrast of her having lost everything vs other “survivors” who are still with their families. Completely different motivations, and it adds a layer of revenge to her quest as opposed to altruism and saving the world.
