Christmas tree question, for I assume Effin. Where is the best place to buy spare bulbs?

Home Depot wants $3 for a five pack which seems excessive. We inherited my in-laws prelit tree, and like half this thing seems to be out. The bulb holders do not seem to be a standard size because I tried pulling bulbs from a different string and they didn't stay in.

I would rather buy a new tree*

There's a bunch of different styles of bulbs on those prelits.

And a lot of times the issue is in the socket, not the bulb. If half the string is out, you've either got a broken bulb or the contacts in a base have corrosion and they're not making contact. Get a light tester and see where the current ends. That should be your trouble spot.

Replacement bulbs might have to come from the tree manufacturer.....there's like 4 styles, and they don't work together.

Last year I bought bulbs on Amazon and spent what had to be 3 hours replacing bulbs.

I bought the bulbs without the base, and just swapped the bulb out on each base. If I had to do it over again, I would do what I did at the end of the season, just cut the pre-lit strings out and hung regular bulbs on it... preferably LED bulbs. It's just too agrevating. I thought about pulling literally every bulb out, and seeing if there was an LED swap I could do.

I thankfully found this year that stringing the bulbs takes like... 5 minutes. If I have to do it every year, I'm still saving a ton of time.

I don't know, the strings are really on there good. Also, LED Christmas lights are disgusting. *

I just hack them out with scissors and knives.

For the bulbs, I went more old-school look, kinda of the fatter color bulbs. I like the way they look. It's a bit more festive.

I do like the look of C9 bulbs because that's what I grew up with. But you basically can't

find C9 indoor strings that aren't LED, and those look terrible.

Too much of a pain in the ass to troubleshoot them, and like DD said, the bulbs can be all different styles.
