Anyone here have/had a Bernese Mountain Dog?

Just starting to look for a new dog and will go to the shelter first, but also looking at possible Golden or Bernese. Never had a Bernese and told they're a great dog, but lots of fur and grooming.
Any other plus or minuses?

the GF used to have one and is pretty obsessed with them.

personally not sure about a dog you'd only have a few years... my understanding is the one she had went downhill pretty catastrophically at the end.

My sister had two at one point, but the older passed away. Here is a pic of the one she still has

I’ve met other doodles mixes and he seems the most laid back out of all of them. My brother has golden doodles that are nutso.

Their popularity also means a lot of shitty breeders, which means a lot of preventable health issues. If you decide to go that route, research the breeder extensively.

As Sounder said, they're freaking massive. But my goodness that dog was loyal and kind, and loving, and protective without being overbearing...

The first was awesome and the second is kind of a pain. I am currently dog sitting for an Entelbucher, which is a smaller relative of the Berner. He's kind of a pain in the ass, very needy and whiny.
