Jim Montgomery wanted to pull Jordan Binnington after he gave up the 7th goal but they couldn't find backup Joel Hofer (United Center benches aren't big enough)

To clarify, he was down deeper into the tunnel and likely the locker room…

…watching the game. Only after they had the faceoff did they zoom down the tunnel did his head pop up. Most likely he was not fully dressed when they called for him and wasn’t ready to go on when the refs had to move on.

To me, to pull him that late in the game is a bad move by the coach. Maybe if the Hawks scored a bunch early on in the first period that perhaps it just wasn’t his night and replacing him made more sense
