I watched Train Dreams over the weekend. Great performances but fast paced it was not.

It’s a character development piece so it takes its time. Joel Edgerton was excellent.

For me in order

OBAA - Loved it. Didn't like the first 45 minutes or so initially, but loved Di Caprio, Benicio, Penn, even Goldwyn and Downey

Marty Supreme - Chalamet great and definitely a thrill ride. Much more enjoyable to me than Uncut Gems where I actively rooted for Sandler to get got.

Train Dreams - Not super thrilling but I thought it was well done and Edgerton was very good. Funny to me that this and Mission Impossible 8 both had Stearmans as main parts of the movie.

Sinners - I really enjoyed Michael B Jordan and liked the first half but I'm not a horror guy and find the ridiculous violence and horror trend nowadays a bit absurd and over the top.

F1 - Just a fun movie. It's pretty ridiculous to be nominated but enjoyed it in IMAX.

Frankenstein - I like Oscar Isaac but this movie was just too overdone for me and once again not a horror guy. I enjoyed the start of it but by the end I was a bit bored.

Bugonia - Just too absurd to me and Stavros completely took me out of the movie. Jumbled mess imo. I thought Stavros was terrible and him being Jesse Plemons babysitter was ridiculous in age difference that I couldn't get past. Once again just more gratuitous violence. I thought Emma Stone and Plemons and the kid who played Plemons cousin were all pretty good though.

Also is Ryan Coogler a huge TNG fan?

The king vampire named Remmick that turned all the others is pretty similar to Lt. Remmick from the episode Conspiracy in season 1 being the king alien who's turning all of Starfleet.

Sinners was my favorite movie in the past few years but even I think it’s overrated. *

Bugonia had three great performances, but ended up less than the sum of its parts. Kind of a running theme with Yorgos. Also Stavros Halkias was there.

I'm a little surprised Sinners didn't get more backlash. We were sold a vampire movie, but we got a movie about music, racism, and sticking tongues in coozes. With vampires in it.

I'd like to see Hamnet, Sentimental Value, Train Dreams, and maybe The Secret Agent. All the rest can go screw.
