New YTTV plans coming out in a week

– The Sports Plan, which will be $64.99 a month, or $54.99 a month for new users, will include sports networks such as FS1, NBC Sports Network and all ESPN networks. Access to the ESPN Unlimited app will be added in the fall.

– The Sports+News plan, which will cost $71.99 a month, or $56.99 a month for new users, will include everything in the Sports plan plus national news networks such as CNN, Fox News and MS Now.

– The Entertainment Plan, which will cost $54.99 a month, or $44.99 a month for new users, will include such basic cable channels as Hallmark, Bravo, Comedy Central, Food Network and HGTV.

– The News+Entertainment+Family plan, which will cost $69.99 a month, or $59.99 a month for new users, will feature the Disney Channel, Nickelodeon, National Geographic, Cartoon Network, PBS Kids and more.

Their interface seems to be intentionally designed to be as terrible as possible. It is stunning that the entire user experience for this massive product is so needlessly annoying.

And they have as many or more ads than broadcast TV used to. Just all around awful compared to Netflix.

The $82.99 a month base package will still be offered. Subscribers who sign up for one of the genre plans will also still have access to features such as unlimited recording, the ability to add up to 6 members on one account, Key Plays, Multiview, the NFL Sunday Ticket and 4K Plus, among others.

Price has been kept pretty flat in recent years as the provider tries to hang on to customers.

Every time I try to use Youtube TV it just makes me angry. Having a DVR is vasty superior. The only time that isn't true is the rare occasion where there is a storm that knocks out the sattelite, but that happens way less frequently than the wifi going out.

I love watching football games later. I hit the 15s skip once or twice (depending on if the team is hurry up or not) after every play.

With a physical DVR, the data is there, so the jump is immediate.

With YTTV, there's anywhere from 1-8s of buffering.

It still saves time, but it changes from a 45 minute watch to a 60-65 minute watch.

I grudgingly take it to not have another hardware box, but I wish I could tell it to buffer 35s ahead for a specific recorded show, or that it would learn what I do.

DVDs I can understand because it guarantees you own the media you want to watch. With streaming even if you "buy" a movie via itunes or whatever it can still get pulled at some point.

I wish you could exit out of the guide directly to whatever you're currently watching w/o having to select it again or click all the way to the top of the screen.

when you go to watch a show you've recorded you might have to make sure you select the version that actually aired (so you can FF through commercials) vs. the one that's available on demand. I wish it would default to the one that aired.

I'd prefer it to open up to the guide rather than the home screen/menu.

and maybe this is an appletv thing but I'd like the voice control to work so I could just say to go to a channel

there are probably a few others, but given the price and the programming that's included those are all minor gripes.
