Feel safe going for a run in morning or late afternoon.
Walking to decent restaurants or places to have a drink and watch a game (conference tourney weeks).

I’m ok hopping in an uber either for a meal or ti get to campus

which is similar to Downtown Chicago. Think lots of tall buildings with condos and fancy but good restaurants. Tech Square is in between Midtown and campus and will have some additional restaurants that cater to students.

It won't be fun to run from Tech Square. It's far enough from Piedmont Park that it will be a pain to get to (imagine a bunch of crowded sidewalks with lots of stoplights to get there) and college campus will potentially be very crowded (though probably runnable).

If you want to stay in Midtown and run you probably want a hotel nearby Piedmont Park (there are a bunch on the west side of it). I don't love the dining/watching game options around here as they are typically aren't casual for my taste.

Inman Park and Virginia Highlands are two nearby neighborhoods if you prefer that sort of vibe (more like Lincoln Park or Wicker Park but of course different). Hotel Clermont is in between and also near the Beltline. The Beltline is a mix-use trail that you can run on and i don't think will be too crowded when you want to go. There are also breweries and restaurants all along it from super casual to my favorite steakhouse in Atlanta. You can also rent a Lime and take it down the Beltline to Inman Park for other good food options. There are similarly some good bars to hang out on Highland Ave which would be a long-ish walk from the Clermont.

For a run, you can run over to Piedmont Park pretty easily and depending on the distance

Or you can stay at the Four Seasons, only a few blocks and hundreds of dollars a night away

I wouldn't stay downtown for Tech, though I guess it would be an easy MARTA ride to Tech Square

Closest is GT Hotel and Conference. You can most likely walk depending on where the class is

Clermont Hotel is a bit further but if you like a trendier hotel it is cool. There’s a nice roof deck and you are close to the beltline which is fun. But you will need to uber to GT

Any of those should work. Safe area and plenty of restaurants/coffee shops

Around Spring or West Peachtree and 5th or 10th would put you by one of the bridges that you could walk across 75/85 into campus.

I guess that’s the heart of the question

Midtown is centrally located and would make it easy to get to the training in the morning on Campus. And then if you wanted to got to touristy things like Centennial Park, Piedmont Park, World of Coke, College Football Hall of Fame, Aquarium, etc; you're a short Uber to any of those.

Or even if you wanted to hit some in town breweries or restaurants in Decatur on West Midtown or Avondale Estates, same situation, you're a short Uber to those areas.

Would Atlantic Station area be good? That's where I usually stay for work, and it's close to GT.

Atlantic Station seems to be on a down turn, I'd avoid that area*

Yep. It's so sad. They tried to do new urbanism but ended up Atlantafying new urbanism.

I'm staying there next weekend, and then for a week the back half of March. I always stay at the Embassy Suites there. The customer I go to is a 10 minute walk, so it's super easy.
