I think their insurance to cover kids during a weather event skyrocketed and instead of paying the premium, they decided to eliminate the risk. Don’t pay that premium and prematurely close all the schools in any predicted event.

They save money and out the burden on the parents to a)stay at home with the kids and b) house them during bad weather
