Seeing a ton of people say that if he just holds the ball, Duke is in the Final Four.

In all likelihood, yes. But he’d be getting fouled with the 6-7 seconds left, up 2, shooting a 1 and 1. If he misses, UConn has more than enough time to win the game.

Whereas if he makes that pass, game over. Now obviously you have to be more certain if you’re going to make the pass, but I don’t think the idea itself was the wrong one. Also a pretty great defensive play by UConn.

Hopefully this makes us America's Teams for the Final Four. At least for Saturday; I think Arizona is fairly well liked big program. Michigan much more divisive.

As is well known, Wagler moved into the PG role after that loss. He only played 16 mins and had three points.

Lee and Petrovic combined for 29 mins. Bos had 28 points and kept us competitive. We were 6-29 from 3.

On their end, Reed was in foul trouble, only played 15 mins and had two points. Mullins only played 10 mins. Malachi Smith had 14. He’s only been in double figures once since.

Gonna be basically two entirely different teams.

College basketball officiating has really gone backwards again. These games in the 50s and low 60s

aren’t watchable broadly. We really need to make some lasting changes in foul calling. Call them all until the players adjust. It will be a shitty month of basketball to watch, but the game would be better off long term.

Teams like Houston, Iowa, Tennessee just drag the game into the muck.

There’s no real reason for Dusty May or Nate Oats to leave places like Alabama or Michigan for North Carolina. But there are real long-term recruiting limitations at a place like Iowa that would still make a lot of other jobs more compelling for an ambitious coach.

But McCollum might have more of the Cignetti vibes where he wants the challenge.
