banks/koch/folgueras carried them against florida (while stirtz was largely controlled); sage stepped up for banks last night and stirtz had 20.

they cannot guard illinois and they fouled a lot in the florida game. wagler, mirk and andrej are terrible matchups for them and could very likely go to the line 25 times between the three. Better hit the free throws. They need a cold shooting performance from illinois and continued red hot offense from their non-Stirtz guys to beat us.

Illinois should be okay if it shoots normal % from 3 (mid 30s anyway), hits free throws and, most importantly, continues to guard as well as it has so far in the tournament. Not that complicated.

Iowa did us a huge favor by beating florida; i didn't love that matchup. Don't return it with sloppy play and lazy defense. Hasn't been a problem so far in this tournament, except for the FT lapses last night.

heavy weight team in the semi finals in double OT. Everyone in the world knew they were better than the team they were meeting in the final and would beat them 999 times out of a 1000. But they lost. Has the same feel. We got through Houston and we have just Iowa. Hope Brad is a better motivator and coach than my daughter’s soccer coach. ;-)

Maybe just the worry that our dominant first round performance was due to playing bad teams, or the incessant "toughness" narrative that was being played all week...

But after last night, I think we're just locked in right now. We kicked the shit out of Houston. Iowa is playing better, and I think it will be a good game, but just not as worried.
