Watch the bats fly out of the Congress Ave bridge at dusk. Be at the south side of the bridge, looing towards downtown.

Banger's Sausage Bar (among the other bars on Rainey St.)

Veracruz All Natural Taco truck in East Austin

We took a guided kayak paddle along the Colorado river in downtown Austin. Interesting way to see downtown and got some ideas of stuff to do from a local. It was also mid-September so pretty warm and a way to cool off a bit.

Nickel City: fake dive bar, still fun.
TXRD: roller Derby. It's awesome
Lots of bars/live music on Rainey Street. Half step is a cool bar
Pinballz arcade: giant arcade with old school games and pinball

This is what our local Uber driver told us on our visit.

Actually, we wanted to go to La Barbecue (Franklins was closed due to a fire) but the driver told us that Terry Black's was just as good if note better and there would be minimal wait.

Enjoyed it so much we went twice in 3.5 days.

I got to franklin at about 8 AM, it was a 3.5 hr wait. Chairs and beers in the line.

When I lived there, the original Chuy's on Barton Springs Rd was always a great place
