When I was a yoot, I was led to believe that there was a significant chance that at some point in my life, perhaps several, I would encounter a pit of quicksand, putting my life in danger.

I made mental notes on how to escape.

I’ve never seen quicksand

Unsolved Mysteries had me convinced that every escaped criminal was going to find their way

and our couch was right in front of one of them. I always believed that some escaped criminal was watching us through this window and was going to bust in and kill us

but did I stop watching? of course not.
