...I didn't see any reason to simply reverse my problem.

This was several years ago that I looked into it... is there a procedure now that can correct nearsightedness while not negatively impacting near sight?

...removed the 3rd car garage mechanism, put in a mini split, built a sim...

Use it just about every day... wife isn't even upset about the expense since I absolutely get my money's worth.

Just been rebuilding v2 of it over the past few weeks... almost done.

Surprisingly a sim does not give me time to actually play golf.

It’s as much work as you want it to be… can make it relatively simple or splurge and go nuts with it.

My recommendation is to use a lot of “non-sim” stuff and buy it on amazon. You can return anything.

I’ve probably sent back $10k worth of stuff in the 2 iterations based on trial & error and changing my mind. I’ve tried just about every LM at or below $5k and have used trackman a fair amount.

Can answer any Qs you have.

Not sure what I'd do for the gym part but I'd figure it out.

I built out the gym when I was in California because I didn't want to have to try and get to the gym at 4 am to beat the crowds. It didn't work anyway. And then Covid hit and I was set!

Neither of those things are in play now.

My ceiling is 9'4 AFF... I have 16'9 of usable depth and around 11-12' of usable width.

The ideal set up is right hand only... makes width a non-issue.

If you're trying to accommodate both sides of the ball, it gets more challenging... probably need about 15' of width for that.

extremes in the summer and winter can be pretty daunting and keep me from working out sometimes.

We'll do the work and the materials aren't that expensive. Will work for either the gym or a sim.

We got one as a wedding gift and it generally sucked.

We have a little lip on the tile in front of our fireplace, and it would get hung up on that.

It would constantly get stuck under furniture. It never learned to avoid it. We ended up having to put the dining room chairs up so it could clean well under the dining room table.

We have fiber rugs and it chewed up the fiber and made its cleaning abilities diminished.

Parts broke on it.

It now sits in a closet, unused

It triangulates its position from the beacon and satellites. It's very precise; within an inch. You can set no-go zones. You can divide your yard into zones so that, say, you have an area near woods in the fall and you want it to go there every day and grind up leaves.

We had an early, budget Ecovacs robot that used to get stuck almost every time and generally was more work than it was worth. About four years ago, we switched to a Roborock model that has sonar and really good mapping software. It's night and day. It'll get stuck about once a month, mostly because one of us left a charging cord dangling on the floor or something.

I had a Eufy that came out in 2020ish and it wasn't the best. Eventually trashed it and went with a Shark - it will get stuck on things but that's because I have a 11 year old kid and two cats, so there's constantly crap on the floors.

it's portable. I can set up a boundary anywhere I'm at.

I did some research on a static GPS collar. One that would extend a certain radius from a fixed point. So if I have a transmitter on me, I could extend the radius say 10' and then walk my dog off leash with a 10' radius.

It seems such technology exists but isn't quite there yet.

Chainsaw would be a nonstarter. Battery is perfect for my pole saw that I use for limbs around the house. But I can't see a battery powered lasting long on a 16" bar saw when cutting up firewood. In fact, my brother-in-law brought a 12" Milwaukee M18 saw a couple of years ago when we were bucking up trees and a full battery died in 5 minutes.

I've used my mother-in-law's battery powered Dewalt string trimmer, which is fine on grass and had a longer run time than I expected. However, it became about useless when I started trying to cut denser weeds and brush with it. I'll stick with my gas Husqvarna for cleaning up my woods.

Battery powered leaf blower, air compressor, drills, and aforementioned pole saw are great. Now think I need to add an angle grinder.

My understanding is that you should use until the battery runs low to give it a full charge

And either pull it off the charger once full or only recharge it before using it again. Only using a little bit of the battery and then letting it live on the charger isn't good for its lifespan but this is all just what an old maintenance boss told me.

2007-2008 we were renting a nice house in Chicago for pretty cheap all in all. Still, we could barely afford it, a social worker and teacher just starting out.

The housing bubble was about to burst and the deuce warned me all about it. I don't understand finances but I kept reading about the bubble here.

We decided not to renew our lease and our landlord offered to sell to us. We went to our bank (Washington mutual, remember them?) and they assessed that we could buy the house for a mortgage that was basically *double* our rent (that we barely afforded).

We declined, thank goodness.

I got in on the DirecTV NOW deal when it was $35 a month, 100 channels, HBO for $5 a month, and you got a free Apple TV. At the time I was paying like $230 a month for Internet, Cable, and 3 cable boxes?

I switched to an all-fiber internet provider for like $70 a month, got better service. Switched every cable box to an Apple TV, and since regular cable boxes are ass, that was a huge improvement. And at the time I was out the door for like $110 a month.

Obviously things have gone up in price since then. But I think I'm still under teh $230 threshold. I think I'm gonna be able to negotiate my internet back to the $60-$70 range, and we're paying like $90 for DirecTV Stream because we've got a grandfathered discount from the $35 days.

Cabin purchase in October 2019. The dream then was to be here a full week over the 4th of the July.

Married in January. Wife will move there and I will be there on the weekends.
3-4 days a week I will be in the Peoria area still, working for another 2 years
Plan on staying here until 60 then retire and the company medical insurance will remain available until 65.

We really like it and it was for sale last year then pulled after a few months and rented. Available October which would be perfect
Anyone thoughts on National Ave in Rockford? Decent area?
