Sadly must accept that little about major sports is done in service of the fan experience anymore

And that trend line on the % of decisions are done with that in mind will continue to be a straight downward trend for the foreseeable future. For any of the sports that have mega broadcast deals, worrying about the fans attending games in-person is increasingly further down their list of priorities.

....on a Friday night, especially one where they can't get a hotel room that night because they're all already booked or they're $400 or more because it's Dad's Weekend.

That'll be after the DST change, so it will be dark by about 5:30PM. 2+ hours of tailgating at night in November? No thanks.

Pre game BBQ/tailgate and the game were the biggest part of the Saturday Dad's Weekend experience.

Friday night was usually a club hockey game or a preseason hoops game if they could make that work. Maybe they'll schedule a hoops game Saturday afternoon or evening?

If they can't put something like that together, Saturday will be a big ol nothingburger for the weekend.
