Joe's KC, Jack Stack are (were) my two go-tos when I used to go frequently.

I would highly recommend staying at the Hilton President adjacent to the Power & Light district or the Intercontinental at Country Club Plaza. Both are cool, old hotels.

I've had good beers in Westport, which is kinda just up the hill from Country Club Plaza.

And of course, Boulevard is there.

I went to Jack stack last year and was unimpressed. Reminded me of sugarfire - good sides but

Meh bbq. But I hate ketchup so it was probably their sauce I really had an issue with.

Joe's is my go-to. They opened a second area across from the original gas station

Sounded like the entrance on the southeast end of the stadium was smoother than north side. We stood in line for almost an hour at the outer security checkpoint on the north side

Joe's (KC KS) was very good

Jack Stack had some excellent dishes and some meh

Didn't eat at Anton's but very good beer selection and they serve steaks from their own butcher shop (they looked good)

Kon Tiki was a fun tiki bar

I recall Arthur Bryant's being good back in the day (Negro League Museum is nearby and worth the time)

Kinda a KC guy IIRC. Parents relocated to KC when he was in HS; but Brumby found them anyway. :-)

So, at least a summer or two in KC. Not sure if he spent any time there after UIUC.
