central provisions is excellent if you want something less ethnic.

beware the gelato places; they are usually fine ice cream, but not technically gelato.

outside of bar harbor, make reservations at sweet pea's cafe. better food than you'll get in BH.

the popovers at jordon pond cafe are overrated, but the view is nice. thunder hole during peak waves and sunrise/sunset at cadillac mountain do get real crowded, so get there early or go off peak. (note: you won't hear the "thunder" as loud off peak.)

I don't remember a single bad meal in Portland or Portsmouth, but I also can't remember a single restaurant's name.

And if you're outdoorsy at all, the LL Bean headquarters campus is a good stop in Freeport.

If you want to hang out with the French Canadians on the boardwalk, go to Old Orchard Beach. Another brewery to check out is Belleflower in Portland. The Old Port is a fun section to walk around - shops, restaurants, bars, breweries. Portland Head Light is a must-see.
