1) I thought they were just for little kids. 2) Why do I need this for my kid who turns 17 next month? Free money for a baby or young child, so that's great. I don't have one of those. everything else is tax deferred. Kind of a hybrid roth/traditional ira. As of right now you can convert them to a Roth at 18, but who knows if that'll change.
