If, for whatever reason, I was unable to get a good sleep on the first flight, I would not want to face 12 hours in London.

We visited the Van Gogh Museum on our layover (8 hrs) on the Croatia trip

It was actually pretty good and doable. Given that we’ll have lie flat seats and the Virgin Revivals Lounge working in our favor (plus Virgin has a dedicated Upper Class terminal at LHR) I think we’ll be okay. Going to avoid central London and check out Richmond borough instead.
