Severe weather just blew through. We are out of power

but fairly fortunate. Looks like a tornado touched down in Glen Ellyn maybe. my son rode back recently and said there are some huge trees down in the road.

Our storm track was released. EF-0 about 1.5 miles away.*

Power is back today but the forecast looks pretty rough for the next 3 days.

People arguing with the NWS because their damage was attributed to straight line winds and not a tornado. Like they really, really wanted a tornado and the meteorologists and damage surveyors don’t know shit because they experienced it.

Nevermind it’s their anecdote versus science like the surveys, radar indicating rotation or not, numerous additional atmospheric measurements, etc.

Downed trees pointing in same direction or just a jumbled mess
Widespread area versus narrow corridor
Evidence debris was picked up versus pushed down
Debris signature on radar versus none

our gas generator is currently powering the necessities

1- our fridges and freezers
2- our internet
3- my computer

the rest of the family has deserted me for greener pastures (in-laws' house with power)

and for the others, it might be Friday.

I bought this generator maybe 5 years ago when we lost power and were preparing to go on vacation. I've only used it 3 or 4 times, but I'm glad to have it today.
