I don't think we were even especially worried about the hostages until they'd been held for a couple of months, and Walter Cronkite started numbering the days on every newscast.

"Guests of the Ayatollah" about the crisis and the hostages is good. Published 20 years ago, I read it this year and thought it was well done.

ABC started its daily count within a week of the hostage taking.

Indeed. They even launched a nightly show about it.

But until Cronkite retired, I rarely watched any national newscasts other than CBS. John Chancellor was an Illinois grad, but it wasn't worth getting up, walking to the set, twisting the knob and rearranging the rabbit ears.

I think it’s the hairline.

My old law school roommate had a similar hairline and he was obsessed with it. He tried every shampoo, conditioner, and scalp oil available to slow Father Time.

We used to remove hair from the bottom of the shower and sprinkle them on his pillow when he was asleep, just to see his reaction the next morning

and while there are many factors wrt a healthy lifestyle the biggest reasons that people look younger now than they did back then is hydration (drinking water) and sunscreen/skin care.

1982. My brother-in-law collected various old things when the parents died about five years ago. He's shedding items and gave us their copy of our wedding photos. One of those with a bunch of photos stuck under plastic, including shots of guests at tables.

We might toss the whole thing, or save just a few.
