United is doing away with the illusion that flights actually matter for loyalty

All loyalty tiers in 2027 are solely based on spend, with a starter deposit made based on credit card holder status.

It aligns better with my current travel pattern, but sucks for domestic road warriors (if those exist still)

good. I never hit the flights requirement for 1k so have to hit the higher $*

I have traded domestic road warrior weekly grind into quarterly international trips in Polaris.

Boarding Group Order

• Pre-boarding: Customers with disabilities, unaccompanied minors, active-duty U.S. military, families traveling with children 2 and under, and United Global Services or Premier 1K members.
• Group 1: United Polaris, First, and Business class passengers, along with Premier Platinum, Premier Gold, and Star Alliance Gold members. (Boards via the blue lane).
• Group 2: Premier Silver and Star Alliance Silver members, Premium Plus passengers, eligible United credit cardholders, and those who purchased Premier Access or priority boarding. (Boards via the green lane).
• Group 3 (WILMA window/exit row): Economy Plus and United Economy passengers seated in window or exit-row seats.
• Group 4 (WILMA middle): Economy Plus and United Economy passengers seated in middle seats.
• Group 5 (WILMA aisle): Economy Plus and United Economy passengers seated in aisle seats.
• Group 6: Basic Economy passengers (who are generally restricted to a personal item rather than a full overhead carry-on).

Well that explains a lot.*

Yeah, Delta did that a couple of years ago. Helps to be a business traveler and a CC user.
