I have and re-read the article. I see no "pops at the CPB", "indirect" or of any kind.
Please quote the lines where you feel MD "popped" at the CPB?
"Tellingly she fails to note that the rack renting landlords and employers in the tailoring trade whom Max fought against were also Jewish."
This rather gives the game away. Why would anyone (as opposed the MD who is Jewish) choose to point out that a number of landlords were Jewish, as to do so would be to invoke a classic anti semitic trope?
Are Jews more likely to become "Rackman" landlords or inherently predisposed than the general population to be worse landlords? No. Ridiculous, racist and fascist.
I did not like MD's obituary at all for the opposite reason, with the heavy reference to the Jewishness of the comrade in question, the population of the London East End and membership of the then CPGB.
MD introduces the question as to be between " a Jewish Communist" or a "Communist Jew." She answers by claiming both are true at the same time.
No, the question of Jewishness should be entirely separated from the question of being a communist or a member of the CPGB. It should be irrelevant.
Jewish people should neither be selected for especial hostility and discrimination. Nor should they project themselves as a "special" or "chosen" people. They are neither.
