The sad thing is that probably most of the Star's journalists, like most of its readers, are materialists who understand mammalian sexual dimorphism perfectly well. But they dare not say so in print any more. Coverage of organisations like Women's Place UK, Labour Women's Declaration and the like has pretty much dried up. There was a significant vote in the Scottish Parliament yesterday in which Labour MSP Johann Lamont successfully ensured that rape victims in Scotland could insist on the sex (as distinct from 'gender') of the person who examines them. Not a whisper from the Star, as far as I can see, although I know it has writers who would cheerfully write that story up. It's a no-go area for them now. Still, it's a fascinating case study of the knock-on effects of institutional capture.
