I have only just found out that Steve Hart who was prominent in the CPGB leadership in the 1980s - and a Ford car worker - is the son of Dame Judith Hart, a Labour Minister in the 1960s and 70s.

Steve was on the CPGB EC during the 80s and featured in many round table discussions in Marxism today on trade unions, the left, industry etc.

My realisation came from watching a terrible Channel 5 programme on the 'Winter of Discontent', full of the most appalling right wing commentators such as Esther 'bleedin' Rantzen (Not the Nine O'Clock News joke), Carol Malone, Matthew Parris, Alistair Stewart etc.

Stewart appeared as if he had overdosed on 'powdered rhino horn' (think about it) he was so hyper and utterly sycophantic towards Margaret Thatcher and the Conservative Party. To think he was once an 'impartial' newsreader.

Steve was on the programme (obviously) speaking about the Ford workers strike which smashed Callaghan's 5% pay limit. He spoke well, in fact powerfully. He must be around 70 yo now and looked very fit and well.
