Re: State Opening of Parliament 1958
I have found it frustrating that there is very little information relating to the peeresses present at this Opening of Parliament in 1958. There are two explanations for that. 1. This was the first time TV cameras were allowed into the House of Lords and that photos of the ceremony from inside the House could be published. 2. I think this was the first time that female life peers were appointed - and so considerable attention was given to them.
