A lot of the pioeces wher handed over to the State of bavaria in lie iof Inheritance taxes and since the 1990 nare on display in the former Marsstal of St. Emmeram Castle where a dependance of the Bavarian national Museum is located
Rather than sell income generating assets such as land, Princess Gloria sold jewels to help meet the inheritance taxes after the death of her husband.
Perhaps the most famous jewel was the pearl and diamond tiara which had belonged originally to the Empress Eugenie. It was part of the diamonds of the crown which the Republic sold in 1887. Today it is on display in the Louvre.
