I think you are correct and that Queen Mary's bracelet did not have the square shaped buckles.
It seems very clear that Queen Alexandra wore a diamond, not a pearl bracelet for her coronation.
It may well be the same as the one worn by Queen Mary and Queen Victoria. Queen Alexandra had a finer/more slender frame than either her mother-in-law or her daughter-in-law, so I expect that her wrist was smaller and a bracelet which was firm on the other ladies would be looser on Queen Alexandra.
I looked at what Twinning had to say about the jewels left to the crown. All that he talks about is a bracelet of 116 brilliants set in 4 rows made in 1938. He does not mention a clasp, nor does he say if it was the one which had Prince Albert's portrait. It is possible that the one Queen Victoria wore daily was left to the Empress Frederick and is different from the one Queen Victoria left to the Crown. Leslie Field is often inaccurate on details. I wish we knew for certain what Queen Victoria left to whom!
