Although Queen Victoria used images from this photo session for her Jubilee in 1897, the Royal Collection is clear that the photos were taken on the occasion of George V's and Queen Mary's wedding in 1893.
I am only just now starting to appreciate how Queen Victoria used parts of her jewels in various forms.
Her journal entry for the opening of the Royal Exchange shows that she wore parts of her "big diadem taken to pieces & used to trim the dress..."
The question is which diadem? The Diamond Diadem or the Regal circlet?
The extensive press reporting of this event has not provided any answers -- probably because reporters were kept at a respectful distance.
Below is a typical report (many are identical)
I wonder if, by her descriptions, her "diamond fringes" were individual pieces that could be configured into various items - such as diadems, tiara, necklace, corsage or dress decoration etc.???
