Interesting Kat Max! I am sure that you, like me, would have seen any number of Argyle pink diamonds in jewellery shop windows since the 1980s when they hit out local market.

Initially, I was intrigued by the colour, but felt that pink sapphires and pale coloured rubies were more attractive. At the time, I didn't appreciate the phenomenon of pink diamonds. (Oh! my ignorance at the time!) To this day I am not a fan of those which have brown overtones.

Last year, a jeweller I know told me of a commission he was doing for an engagement ring. The lady, in true Australian style, didn't want a ring which was ostentatious, but she had a significantly sized pink diamond set under the diamond superstructre. Amazing! but very Australian, in that she did not want anyone to know how expensive her ring was.
