I think that I have found the origin of the emerald earrings worn by the Duchess of Cambridge (and thus the demi-set) (or pure speculation of me)
We all know that the Duchess of Cambridge wore a new emerald and diamond demi-parure at the BAFTA (British Academy of Film and Television Arts) Awards ceremony in 2018 .

At time the demi-parure was said to be a private gift (no more information from the palace - not said to be a wedding gift ?.
We also know that Princess Diana wore an unknown pair of emeralds earrings at a gala concert at Brangwyn Hall Swansea in Wales in October 1981.

At that time it was said that she had been given 2 demi-parure from the SA royal family.
I have now the impression that the emeralds in the earrings worn by Princess Diana are square and not round. The diamonds have also the same shape.
Consequently, I have the feeling that the Duchess of Cambridge was wearing the emerald earrings from Princess Diana. (Compare the earrings - we can see the shape of the earrings worn by Princess Diana)
Last but not least I have always been struck by the similarities with the sapphire asprey demi-parure given by the Crown prince of SA.

What do you think ?
