That's a very valid point Mike. If I recollect correctly, I think that Hugh Roberts said the sautoir was made in 1929 (apologies I really should have checked). If the sautoir was made in 1929 then I suspect that the then Duke of York would not have been splashing money around as George V had advised all the royal family to moderate their spending.
