Re: Queen Mary. Pearl and diamond necklace from Gondal
At pictures 5 & 6 if one looks closely, QM has attached to her bodice a pearl and diamond necklace which looks quite substantial. It looks as though it can be mounted and placed on a frame and worn as a tiara.
I have previously suggested that Queen Mary's multi strand pearl and diamond element choker today worn by the Duchess of Gloucester
may have been the wedding gift from the Thakore of Gondal (or the Ranee depending on which paper is consulted).
Description of gift
I was very much mistaken
Here is a sketch of the gift
Has anyone ever noticed that jewel?
I wondered if Queen Mary wore it attached to her gown at the Devonshire House ball (draped below another jewel below the baroque pearl) But I think I might be imagining things.
The right hand side of the bodice (as we view the photo) does not have the same elements, so I think that the left hand side definitely has jewels attached.
